Yassan will exhibit a new series of GPS Art at Independent Tokyo, an art exhibition that serves as a gateway to success for young artists.

Yassan has been a pioneer in GPS art, spreading the culture of drawing with the tracks of human movement. Triggered by the Corona Disaster, the culture of drawing with GPS has spread among runners and cyclists, and has become a popular culture worldwide.
For the further development of GPS art, he is working to define it as a contemporary art form. As the GPS art culture has spread worldwide, the characteristics of each country and region have become clearer over time. While the thinking and attitude of the artists is one factor, he believe that the influence of roadscapes (road + landscapes) in each region is also a major factor. Among these, he focus on the strengths of Japanese GPS art, such as “disorderly spreading road networks,” “GPS runner communities,” and “Japanese POP Culture,” and sublimate them into a new form of land art.

Yassan is creating a new series of GPS art for this exhibition, with the help of dozens of GPS runners, using Tokyo, the center of Japanese popular culture, as a canvas to create a large GPS drawing.
This is a new era of art that combines the concept of land art with running culture trends and positioning information technology. We hope you will visit the exhibition and enjoy the art.
