SAITAMA Walking Award 2024: Award Ceremony
Yassan participated in the award ceremony of the GPS art competition “SAITAMA Walking Award 2024 GPS Art Walk” as a pre-enter.
The award ceremony was held as a stage event of the 13th Saitama March Minuma Two Day Walk, a walking event held in Saitama City. It was the first official event as a member of the Japan GPS Art Association. Although the weather was unfavorable, it was a big step forward to be able to hold the ceremony as an official awarding ceremony. We would like to continue to hold GPS art competitions in real venues on various occasions.
The first grand prix winner was ……
KOU’s “Running Dragon Saitama (Bonsai)”.
Saitama City is known as a bedroom town in the suburbs of Tokyo, but it has been difficult to convey the other features of the city. We feel that it was significant that a work on the theme of bonsai received an award in the year of the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Bonsai Village in the city. The work was also highly evaluated for its perfection as a single brushstroke drawing, and for its planning to depict an organic motif on a road network full of straight lines.
Also pleased that some of the winners started GPS art because of this competition. The GPS art provided the value of “enjoying a different course each time”, whereas walking alone would have caused people to become bored with the scenery.
We hope that more and more people will experience and enjoy the appeal of GPS art in the future.
