WALK IN HER SHOES 2026

This year, I once again had the honor of serving as a judge for the GPS Art Contest in the “Walk in Her Shoes 2026” campaign, organized by the international cooperation NGO CARE.

“Walk in Her Shoes” is a charity campaign where participants engage in international cooperation by actually walking the distance that women and girls in developing countries must walk daily to fetch water. As part of this initiative, a contest was held where participants drew the letter “C” (the initial of CARE) using GPS art and submitted their works.

This marks my third time serving as a judge for this contest since the project started in 2024.

I review many submissions every year, and once again, I was overwhelmed by the dedication and passion everyone poured into their “C”s.
Even with a simple letter like “C,” depending on the chosen paths and local topography, it can become an angular, powerful “C” or a smooth “C” with beautiful curves. I could truly feel the walkers’ personalities and the charm of their local areas. Seeing the uncompromising trajectories of everyone pursuing the ideal curves along the shapes of the roads was highly inspiring to me as a professional GPS artist.

The casual, everyday act of “walking” can become a force to care for someone far away, and it can also become art with the Earth as its canvas. It was a wonderful contest that once again made me realize the infinite possibilities and warmth of GPS art.
The quality of the artworks improves year by year, making it incredibly difficult to judge and select the winners.

I plan to continue actively engaging in social contribution and regional revitalization efforts through GPS art. I am always open to inquiries from municipalities and corporations who might be thinking, “We want to host a participatory project like this in our town/company!”
