MEDIA: New world after X seconds

On Tuesday, June 2, Nippon TV’s “New world after X seconds” featured the story behind “MARRY ME,” the GPS art I created for my marriage proposal back in 2008. Thank you so much to everyone who watched the broadcast and sent such amazing feedback and messages.
On the show, my wife and I gave a joint interview where we talked about the behind-the-scenes of that “grueling, muddy journey.” I had quit my job for this proposal and spent six months sleeping in my car, driving a total distance of over 7,000 km.
It was a massive message of love drawn at the risk of my life—almost driving my car off a bank, desperately camouflaging my true intentions on my blog…
But at the end of the show, my wife revealed a shocking punchline: “I couldn’t read English, so I didn’t know what it meant (in the end, he just told me verbally in 5 seconds).” This earned some hilarious, loving comedic banter from studio hosts Hiccorohee and Seiya, making it the perfect, very “us” conclusion to the story.
It was a clumsy journey with the worst cost-performance, requiring a ridiculous amount of effort. However, that experience taught me the obsession to “never compromise on bad roads and always perfectly trace the designated lines with my own feet.” This very dedication is what connects to my current work as a professional GPS artist (such as accurately drawing corporate logos and local mascot characters).

I will continue to turn “simple movement” into “art,” drawing lines with the Earth as my canvas.
I am always open to “reckless challenges” (business requests) from companies and municipalities—whether it’s “Please draw this line in our town!” or “Please draw this character!”
